The B-25B
Mitchell
On 16 June,
Chuck Mosely and Ray Brown, your EAA Chapter President and Vice-president,
departed Love’s Landing and traveled to the Marine Corps Museum in
Quantico, VA. They were joined there by the third member of their
team, Cris Ferguson of Evensville , AK.
On the 18th. They begain
the dis-assembly process for this rare B-25B Mitchell. Dis-assembly
required three days to complete.
On the 21st, the aircraft was
loaded onto two trucks provided by Les Chapman of Blossom , TX (Les
and his son, Buddy, specialize in moving Warbirds all over the
country). The three man team than followed the trucks to Pampa , TX
where the aircraft was delivered to the Freedom Museum
U.S.A.
The B-25B was than unloaded from the trucks, and re-assembly
begain. Re-assembly required three days also. The fully
assembled aircraft was moved to its final display spot on the
27th.
The museum plans to construct a building around the aircraft
in order to provide protection, and an asthetic display setting for this
valuable, and rare Warbird. Pampa, TX was the site of a U. S. Army
Air Corp B-25 Medium Bomber Training Base during WW
II.
