PRESIDENT'S FORUM                                                  03/11/02
Fellow members, it is time for our March newsletter, and as you all know, we have a lot to talk about.

      Our chapter meeting at
HUGH AND IDA JOHNSON'S hangar on Saturday the 9th of March  was little more than a kick off for what I consider to be the most ambitious and successful event our chapter has been involved in to date.
There is no official count, but there was more than 200 aircraft that were able to fly -in to Love's Landing.   And thanks to alot of effort,  from alot of our members,  they were each well received, and well hosted .
As with any event of this size, there are alot of thanks to give out.    Again the contributions were numerous.

A very special thanks for our hosts for the day,
HUGH AND IDA JOHNSON, and their  entire CREW from the COTTAGE INN.   A true world class act from start to finish .

      Special thanks also to
Darryl Bennett for his assistance in overall coordination for this fine event.
      A special thanks also to
Ollie and Lorene Washburn for all their efforts that resulted in an outstanding  pork barbeque.
We should all appreciate the efforts of our donation / sales committee:
           L
orene Washburn,    Al Nase,    Mary Rule,    Darryl Bennett,   Ann Bowen ,   Dollie Nase,   Marilyn Bennett

Their efforts resulted in $ 202.00 in sales revenue to our chapter .  Thanks also to all of our members who donated items to sell during this event.
     Thanks to
Harris Bowen for providing much needed transportation  to some of our guests.
Thanks also to all of our aircraft -parking directors who helped make this fly-in such a sucessful operation Special note, Ollie Washburn , who was able to meet every arriving aircraft, and escort it to the initial exit from our runway. After  that, Randy Hartigan, Jay Goodman, Julie Dane, Clint Rule, Ray Brown, Dave Karl, Darryl Bennett, Jim Muterspaugh, and myself were able to take over, and direct all aircraft to a parking spot.  Believe me, they  were arriving fast and furious, and when it came time to depart, they were leaving in the same manner.  For all of this aircraft activity to have taken place without incident says a lot about how efficient we were in handling this event.

There were seven winners of our 50/50 $25.00 drawings.  Not bad, fly into a great airpark community,  meet new friends, have a great lunch, and win $25.00.  The lucky winners are:  Bill McKee, Russ James, S. S. McDonald, Jim Shilling, Larry Mayer, Tom Benton, and Jim Brody.   All of  the winners were also awarded $5.00 Gift Certificates from Cottage Inn Restaurant.
As your chapter president, I can only say that I am proud of each and every one of our members for your contributions, big and small, for this fly-in event.  You can all be proud of your accomplishment.  This world-class event will be talked about in Central Florida aviation circles for a long time to come.

A special reminder, if you havent already done so, please be sure to return your recently received questionaire to our membership coordinator
Dick Mclean.  He has done a great job of putting it together, and we need your inputs in order to help make our chapter even more successful.

Best personal regards,
FLY SAFELY,

CHUCK MOSELY
