FLORIDA to ALASKA and RETURN by GLASTAR in 17 EASY DAYS
“Actually the trip took 28 days but seven days were spent fishing on the Talachulitna River
in Alaska (tough duty), and four full days were lost due to weather.  Tach hours on the
0-320 Lycoming totalled 66, and I burned 680 gallons of 100LL.  Midwest and prairie
flatlands finally gave way to mountain views as I followed the Alaska Highway and
Glenn Highway to Palmer outside Anchorage.  I was able to hitch a ride in a
DeHavilland Beaver on floats to the Skwentna River,
then traveled by flat-bottomed jet boat to the lodge and fish camp.
The salmon and trout fishing were great.
If anyone is considering such a trip I’d be glad to show you the videos and information
from various agencies I collected before embarking on the journey.“

Recently featured on EAA E-Hotline was Steve Pitcarin's Autogyro that he donated to the EAA  Airventure Museum at Pioneer Airport.  This is the autogyro that Al restored for Steve Pitcarin at his old business in Delaware.  According to Al,  “This is the only  example of this model in existence.  It
was built for the British for submarine patrol at the early stages of WW II.  It had a "jump takeoff" feature that  permitted vertical takeoff,  and was the last step before true helicopter development.”
TFR AIRSPACE CHANGES FREQUENTLY, so please obtain a briefing and check notams before every flight.  TFR violators will be intercepted and forced to land.  (Military pilots do  have shoot-down authority.)  ASF has prepared a card that provides the intercept procedures.  Print out the card, study the information, and carry it with you when you fly.  Goto http://download.aopa.org/epilot/2003/intercept.pdf

AIRCRAFT INCIDENT OR OCCURRENCE PROBLEMS NASA/ASRS (Aviation Safety Reporting System)  Reporting Form NASA ARC 277B (January 1994) can be printed directly from the website:    http://asrs.arc.nasa.gov/forms_nf.htm    (Takes a minute or two to load)
This form is for reporting aircraft incident or occurrence problems – not for aircraft accidents or criminal activites.  Good idea to print and carry with you.
