| ON THE ROAD AGAIN The All Coast Aircraft Recovery Team of Weirsdale consists of four EAA 1236 members - Chuck Mosely, Ray Brown, Mike Schiavone and John Macon. They recently worked on three interesting projects during a three week period covering the end of August and the beginning of September. (Dave Burdine of Chicago and Denny Parmer of Santa Rosa, CA also helped out.) The F-101 VooDoo had been on display at the Victoria County Airport in Texas for 20 years when the team disassembled it. They transported it to Flourissant, MO and reassembled it at Flourissant Valley Park - Veterans Memorial Park, very close to its place of manufacture at McDonald/Douglas in St. Louis. On the return trip the crew stopped by the Pensacola Naval Air Museum for their second project – the disassembly of another T-2C Buckeye which was destined for the Defense Distribution Depot in New Cumberland, PA. (Two other T-2C Buckeyes were previously worked on by the team as reported in the July 2004 Newsletter.) After a few days back home to sharpen and replenish supplies, the team was on the road again - to Calhoun, GA to disassemble a F-8A Crusader which had been at Mercer Field and had fallen into neglect. The Crusader was delivered to the Evergreen Museum Restoration Facility in Arizona. It will receive a lot of needed TLC before heading on to McMinnville, OR for final display at the museum. |
